The Plague Doctors.

Plague Doctors were quite active in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, treating, but rarely curing, contaminated/luckless individuals. These alleged “doctors” wore elaborate costumes, often filling their masks with “aromatic items” to offset the plague miasmas.
